The forgotten Brad Pitt film, ‘Cool World’ by Ralph Bakshi

Released in 1992, ‘cool world’ paired live action with animation under director ralph bakshi. The film starred an early career Brad Pitt alongside Kim basinger and Gabriel byrne, arriving shortly after Pitt’s breakout role in ‘Thelma and Louise.’

The movie flopped at the box office, grossing about $14 million against a budget reportedly near $28 million. Production issues and studio interference reshaped bakshi’s darker original vision into a pg 13 release, which affected its creative direction.

Today, the film is mostly remembered as a cult oddity and an early look at pitt before his rise to major stardom.
