Make money doing the work you believe in

Our garden in the Spring ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿปโ€๐ŸŒพ๐Ÿ’š โ€ฆwhile we still care and before it goes completely feral. ๐Ÿ˜…

In all seriousness, I told Nik: if nothing else, we have to plant herbs. All the herbs. An entire bed dedicated solely to herbs.

Besides the fact that store-bought herbs are expensive and donโ€™t keep well, fresh herbs are nothing short of magical; One of the most nutrient-dense foods on the planet, they are ultra-concentrated sources of antioxidants and polyphenols, as well as anti-microbial, anti-viral, and anti-inflammatory compounds.

There is a reason herbalism exists as a therapeutic modality: Herbs are literally medicine. ๐ŸŒฟ

Some of our favourites that we always have in the garden:

Basil - high in Vitamin K, has been shown to help lower fasting blood sugar, blood pressure and cholesterol

Rosemary - supports memory and cognitive function, aids digestion, anti-inflammatory, supports immune function

Thyme - potent anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory properties, great for the respiratory tract, natural insect repellent

Oregano - well-documented for its potent anti-microbial and anti-viral properties, my go-to during cold & flu season

Sage - contains over 160 distinct polyphenols, helps to balance blood sugar and hormones, studies suggest it may be protective against some cancers

Parsley - high in Vitamins C and K, supports bone mineral density, soothes digestion and bloating, can help reduce the risk of kidney stones

Cilantro - a master detoxifier, chelates heavy metals, helps prevent food-borne illness, has been shown to balance blood sugar and ease anxiety
