Listening to John 4… why is it that Rachel comes to the well at high day and she is not suspect (Genesis 29), but a woman from Samaria comes to the well at high day and she is suspect (by some modern Bible teachers) for coming at that time?

I wonder if God, in His sovereignty over the writing of Scripture, was not leading the writers to include those details so that we would see a connection between Rachel and the Samaritan woman. . . Rachel, the one known in Jeremiah’s writings as a mother of Israel (Jeremiah 31:15), and the Samaritan woman, a mother of faith to the Gentiles.

The things I ponder as I think about the text.

What are you pondering?
