In a prescient video considering Scottish MPs’ voting down of assisted dying legislation – could cannabis play a prominent role in end-of-life care? I’m no clinician and feel like this may be on a case-by-case basis. But this testimony certainly makes the experience sound preferable. Fewer side effects and greater all-round presence compared to morphine.

When my father was nearing the end of his life at age 92, we made a conscious decision to prioritize cannabis over heavy use of opioids like morphine. The result was profound. Instead of being sedated, disconnected, and overwhelmed by side effects, he remained alert, present, and able to connect with the people he loved.
