Moonshot announced Kimi K3 on Thursday: 2.8 trillion parameters, a million-token context, and headlines already calling it the largest open model ever built.

The weights aren't out. Moonshot's own post says they land by 27 July.

So "open" right now means a hosted API and a promise. If open weights are your reason for looking, self-hosting so the data stays in your own environment, that's exactly the part that hasn't shipped. Wait for the download before you redraw any data flows.
