Europe banned real-time facial recognition in public spaces last year. Herta Security, a Spanish firm that took more than €3M in EU research grants, now has that same tech running on 4,000+ cameras across India: railway stations, Delhi prisons, a temple in Ayodhya. Legal scholars told the reporters two of those deployments would be illegal back home.
