For me, Dostoevsky portrayed human thinking in real time in Crime and Punishment, unlike any book I had ever read, save perhaps Charles Bukowski, in Factotum, Post Office or Women. But it isn’t a competition, and Bukowski would probably think me an idiot for making the comparison, but this is to show you where I am coming from.
