The perspective of a gay author.

I’m often asked what makes a good gay character, and how can I write one that is plausible while being respectful and honoring the community — the trick is that the community requires inspection from inside out.

Most straight women and men cannot love the fear and safety of an empty alley way in a city the way that a gay man can, because that is both our refuge and our final resting place.
