The app for independent voices

Don't listen to AI gurus who try to convince you that "prompt engineering" is some secret knowledge available to a select few.

It wasn't true already back in early April when I first wrote about this (lnkd.in/eAF-Hxvh)

It's even less true now.

Check out the attached image I just generated using DALL-E 3, OpenAI's new text-to-image model.

See how closely it follows instructions written purely in natural language.

This is the future of human-to-AI interaction.

With each new iteration, large language models and other generative AI tools will only get better at understanding you without the need for special prompting.

My bet is that "prompt engineering" as a discipline is already dead.

Now, can you get better at communicating with ChatGPT, etc.?

Absolutely!

But the skills required to do so are virtually indistinguishable from those needed to be a good communicator in general.

If you can express yourself to another person clearly and accurately, you're already an "AI prompt engineer."

If not, picking up any existing book on effective communication will be much more valuable to you than seeking some hidden AI whispering hacks.
