The current popularity of Stoicism is really pretty wild.
In this representative “Philosophy” section of a representative Barnes and Noble, you’ll find 30 of 220 unique titles are about Stoicism, or about 14% of the shelf space. That may not seem like a lot, but its more that twice that of any other specific school or tradition, and considering a denominator of hundreds (if not thousands or more) of discrete philosophical traditions, 14% is quite a large share.
Incidentally, you will not find my book in that section; it is over with the Military History books. As a philosophy book about military service, Barnes and Noble has no idea where to put it, which I find hilarious.
