Last night I stood at a podium in Portland and told Secretary Brooke Rollins and Forest Service Chief Tom Schultz that we see what they’re doing. And that we are not going to let it happen.

The room was full. Sierra Club Oregon, Oregon Wild, and Cascade Forest Conservancy built this town hall because the Forest Service refused to hold a single public meeting. Rep. Andrea Salinas’ staff was in the room taking testimony that will be submitted directly to the Forest Service.

I talked about the all-out war being waged on our public lands. I named names. I thanked the public servants who have been systematically driven out of the agencies they dedicated their careers to. And the room erupted.

To every one of you who showed up last night because of this publication, thank you. You filled that room. You were a huge part of why the energy was electric. This is what it looks like when a community shows up.

The fight is far from over. The draft Environmental Impact Statement could drop any day. Stay ready.
