Amazon selling new books at a 50% discount is wild. As a bookstore owner, I can't buy books at wholesale for that, generally it's 40% off through Ingram or 50% off directly from a publisher. Still, I have to sell that same book for a profit, otherwise I can’t pay rent. But Amazon is out here selling wholesale direct to consumer, blatantly destroying the physical retailer market. I’m grateful for those willing to buy their books from physical bookstores, even if it's Barnes & Noble (although, they, too, undercut indie bookstores with their 50% off sales). Thank you for shopping local and independent! It keeps your neighbors employed and your favorite bookstores in business.
