I’m not quite as diligent as our brother here, but I definitely practice this to some extent too and find it very valuable. Intentionally “forgetting” my phone has been a growing discipline in my life, and I don’t believe I have yet to regret it.
One of the best practices I do to add life back into my family: when we have an evening of no agenda and we are all home, my phone gets turned off and put into a different room from the moment my kids get home from school to the moment they have gone to bed.
Work can wait.
Projects can wait.
Those texts messages and emails can wait.
