In Christ, the record of debts is cancelled. The slate is wiped clean. There is now no condemnation for those in Christ. Jesus paid it all. Once and for all. It is finished.
Even more, God chooses to not only forgive but forget and will not bring our sins against us.
So why do we at times struggle to forgive ourselves?
Believers can feel condemnation for sins of their past and still struggle. But consider, if God, as the just Judge, our holy Creator, before whom we should be rightfully condemned has chosen to wash us clean and not bring them up any more, could we not do the same? If your sins are under the blood they don't need to be brought up again as if payment must still be made. You are cleansed, forgiven, made new.
If the one whom we truly sinned against no longer holds our sins against us, why would we not walk in the freedom of His forgiveness?
