This painting was inspired by Rowena Cade, an extraordinary woman who (among other feats) transformed her rocky, clifftop Cornish garden into the open-air Minack Theatre – and took breaks from her labours sitting in her wheelbarrow with a book . . . A very desirable way to spend old age I think!
