“AI” (or “AGI” or “ASI” or “GenAI” or whatever else one may call it) will, I believe, never truly “replace” one single human being, because it will not ever partake in human “feeling” — it cannot know (or face) the reality of pain, suffering and death.

It will, therefore, never be reliable for moral or ethical choice. It can displace humans, and it can destroy the human capacity to build and sustain civilized ways of living, but it will never constitute an adequate replacement for one single human being.

Those eager to deploy “AI” in areas where humans only can be morally qualified to decide (and act) cannot be trusted any more than the lifeless engines they seek to turn loose on an unsuspecting humanity.

“AI” is far less “wondrous” than pernicious.

As always, humans matter most — for good and ill. We can destroy our irreplaceable selves. We have nearly done so before.
