I don’t really trust people.

Because it is one thing to trust,

and another thing entirely for someone to hold that trust gently.

Some people are just like buckets with holes beneath them.

No matter how carefully you pour your heart in,

something always leaks out.

Your secrets.

Your softness.

Your silence.

Piece by piece,

you watch parts of yourself disappear

in places you once thought were safe.

And the painful part is,

they still look full

while you stand there empty,

wondering why being understood always seems to cost you pieces of yourself.
