A note for a comment about Python because Substack is so schizophrenic about Notes versus Comments. And because neither allow embedded links, which I guess is a choice…
Anyway, here’s a style method I used to use and want an example of for a comment reply:
edibles = [ "apples"
, "oranges"
, "corn on the cob"
, "garlic mashed potatoes"
, "chocolate cake"
]
It’s a defensive technique for languages that don’t allow hanging commas in lists (like this: [1,2,3,] — many languages see that last comma as a syntax error). It allows moving items around the list without worrying about that one last item with no comma after it.
