Happy World Book Day!
If you know me, you know my nightstand is always a bit chaotic. Over the next few months, it's going to get even worse, and I couldn't be happier about it.
I wanted to take a moment today to share three upcoming books that I'm incredibly excited about. They all touch on creativity, but from very different perspectives.
First up is Austin Kleon. He spent the last few years as a "studio assistant" to his two young kids and realized something profound: children don't think about whether what they are doing is art; they just create. His new book is a guide to unlearning our rigid adult rules and finding the joy of making things without the fear of doing it "wrong."
Then there's Emma Gannon. It's an anti-algorithm, anti-burnout guide for anyone wanting to live a calmer, more confident creative life. It's a gentle push to trust our own compass instead of following everyone else's map.
Finally, who better to talk about creativity than a novelist and master of magical realism? Isabel Allende, reflecting on nearly half a century of writing, offers an intimate glimpse into her creative world. This isn't a prescriptive guide to writing; it's a conversation where she shares her triumphs and mistakes, showing how stories take shape through intuition, discipline, and a deep connection to the human experience.
I'm looking forward to diving into all three. Which one sounds like the perfect addition to your own reading list? Let me know in the comments.
