Lefty YouTuber Contrapoints waded into Israel/Palestine thicket and finally answered why she hasn’t made a video and oh man is the pro-Hamas crowd livid. She’s nominally part of “Breadtube” which tends to be super leftists, but she occasionally breaks ranks (e.g. her excellent Cancellation video).
There’s plenty to disagree with her here, but I’d say most of her observations are exactly accurate. It’s just plainly irrefutable that the online left has agitated itself into a flailing indiscriminate rage with no constructive outlet, and that’s having disastrous consequences in real life with random people (mostly Jews) paying the price.
The r/Palestine crowd just doubles down to this criticism with untethered delusions. They seem to earnestly believe that their unhinged tactics are advancing the movement, and that Israel’s collapse is riiiight around the corner.
I don’t know what their off-ramp would look like because they avoid all substantive confrontation. So I wonder if the least destructive avenue is to leave them to their echo chambers and just affirm the fantasy that they’re accomplishing something.
