Simon finally responded to my post about him! So my main point was how Simon obfuscates his rhetoric, which I argued the most plausible explanation is to provide cover for positions that are embarrassing to be angry about when broadcast transparently.
The example I outlined was crystal clear: Simon turned "The Dems subpoenaed records from VDARE specifically over the course of a resource misallocation investigation" and obfuscated it into "The Dems want to shut down independent media!" Simon neither challenges that he obfuscated, nor does he offer an alternate theory for why he avoided speaking transparently. So my primary thesis stands.
Instead, his response is "Nuh-uh, YOU'RE the embarrassed one!" claiming that I'm coping because the VDARE situation makes liberals look bad. I have complained about liberals and leftists and the Democratic establishment all the time! Why would I suddenly want to die on this hill? If Simon wants my accolades on this subject, here are recent posts from the archive where I either criticize liberals or defend conservatives:
And hell yes Hillary Clinton should have been prosecuted! I've never ever ever defended her or her private email server; that was all some shady shit and I've railed against giving political elite any protections or accommodations. This dude is jousting at windmills and blatantly projecting whenever he rails against "tribalists" and some introspection would be beneficial here.
Setting that aside, does the VDARE situation make "liberals" look bad? If VDARE owners were using organization resources for personal use, it's ok to prosecute them for that. I don't see anything embarrassing about it. Simon's unstated assumptions appears to be that VDARE owners did absolutely nothing wrong and also that the discovery demand placed upon them was indeed unduly burdensome. I don't hold an opinion on either of those points, but if I agreed with those premises then I would also agree that this would make liberals look bad. I clearly have no hesitation about criticizing liberals when they fuck up!
Oh and I've also never insulted his appearance! All I did was post his own photo, which he somehow took to be an insult? I don't know why he'd have insecurities about his physical appearance because personally I think he looks rather dashing.
