Mighter Acorns has left Substack, but I continue to follow him on his website. Earlier this month, he mentioned he was pausing his Ancestry subscription for financial reasons.

I’ve lived with a budget since the day I was married. At the end of the year, we evaluate our spending as we create the budget for the next year. Part of that is my genealogy spending. I’ve already mentioned I rotate my historic newspaper subscriptions. While I love Legacy Family Tree webinars, I’m not sure I’ll renew this year since I need to catch up with a bunch of American Ancestor webinars and it took me all year to watch all the RootsTech webinars.

Check out your public library. Many of them have subscriptions to Ancestry and to other genealogy sites. And be sure to check out the genealogy offerings of the public library in the area you are researching.
