On Holy Saturday we found ourselves in the space between heartbreak and hope. Some traditions call it Silent Saturday because it feels like God has gone quiet on us, but we know that God is still present, still working, even when we can’t hear or see it.
Here are a few quotes I come back to year after year:
“Holy Saturday is the day of waiting—the day when nothing seems to happen, yet everything is about to change.” - Fleming Rutledge
“God is at work even in the silence, even in the tomb, even when all seems lost.” - N.T. Wright
“Silence is not the absence of God—it is often the place where God is forming us.” - Cole Arthur Riley
“Holy Saturday invites us to trust that God is present even when God feels absent.” - Richard Rohr
If today feels quiet, you’re not alone. If the times we live in feel uncertain, you’re not the only one trying to make sense of it all. For better or worse, faith is often found in the waiting, in the not knowing, and in the space between what has been and what will be.
And the story isn't over. Resurrection is coming.
