Faith and Worker Justice — a May Day panel with Oklahoma Faith Network

For May Day 2026, Oklahoma Faith Network’s Kat Romero sat down with Fr. Lance Schmitz of the Church of the Redeemer and Zakk Flash of the Saint Bénézet Catholic Worker Community for a conversation about the deep roots connecting faith traditions and the rights of working people.

Across traditions, scripture has long questioned the morality of structural inequality — and that prophetic witness is as urgent as ever.

With a special election on raising Oklahoma’s minimum wage on the horizon, and May Day marking International Workers’ Day, Fr. Lance and Zakk explore what economic justice looks like on the ground, and why people of faith have always had skin in the labor movement.

Guests:

• Fr. Lance Schmitz — Church of the Redeemer, Oklahoma City

• Zakk Flash — St. Bénézet Catholic Worker Community

• Kat Romero (facilitator) — Oklahoma Faith Network
