[Note to Reader: The intention of writing this chapter is not to in any way undermine the cause for Palestinian independence or Arab independence more broadly. It is rather to showcase the role of the British Empire on orchestrating much of the violence and chaos that would embroil the Middle East. It was the British who created Israel, it was the British who created the role of the Mufti of Jerusalem (who they also personally selected as the later pro-Nazi Haj Amin who slaughtered Jews and his own people, the Arabs), it was the British who created the role of the Mufti of Egypt whom they also personally selected as the disciple of al-Afghani the spiritual father of the Salafiyya movement and it was the British who brought in the legendary Nazi Otto Skorzeny to train the military of Egypt under the Gladio umbrella while a British stooge king (King Farouk) sat on the throne. It is also this very King Farouk who would offer the pro-Nazi Haj Amin (the Mufti of Jerusalem) safe haven after WWII.

It should also be noted that there will be a Volume 2 to this series of books where I will have a chapter on Jabotinsky.]

my father was born in Tito's YUGOSLAVIA, a country which no longer exists. i visited Slovenija,

which borders on Austria, my grandmother's birthplace in 2003. my sister and i visited a few pubs

in Slovenija and asked about their former country and its conditions. i heard praise for what they had,

and how they lived before the destruction of Yugoslavia. fascinating to learn of its connection

to the same policies of perpetual war and terror which the world still suffers from today.

i thank you Cynthia for making this research available!

how can we not Give Peace a Chance? is it not our only True course?

our world is utterly, truly exhausted by the waste and evil of war..

I am reading Cynthia's book and learning so much more about history!

The more we know about history the less vulnerable we are to despots, tyrants, and charlatan politicians.

NATO is looting the West to pay for its wars against China and Russia and this must stop! Few realize that not only are we losing the war in Ukraine we are losing it at home, where the collateral damage is immense and mounting .

Joe Biden claims Russia must be"weakened" totally oblivious to the damage he inflicts on his own country.

dirigisme; System in which the State temporarily assumes the direction of economic mechanisms, while retaining the frameworks of capitalist society (opposed to liberalism).

an approach to economic development emphasizing the positive role of state intervention. The term dirigisme is derived from the French word diriger (“to direct”), which signifies the control of economic activity by the state. Preventing market failure was the basic rationale of this approach.23 May 2023

Why do your sources appear to be primarily Jewish? Where is the Arab POV?

I have used a great deal of references to compose this entire book. This chapter was one of the last chapters I wrote for the book when the thesis was already formed. I have a feeling you have not read very far into this chapter. Haj Amin, who became the Mufti of Jerusalem is well known to have been very much pro-Nazi and working with the Nazis and this is discussed in great detail. As I make the point in this chapter, bringing up the case of Haj Amin is not to take away the cause for Arab Independence (which I actually do focus on in the previous post which is also the previous chapter in my book to this one which I also gather you did not read https://cynthiachung.substack.com/p/who-really-created-the-middle-east) The point of my telling this story is to shed light on how the British created this situation by selecting such a man for the British created role as Mufti of Jerusalem who was violent against both the Jews and his own people, the Arabs. The British also selected the disciple of al-Afghani to be the Mufti of Egypt. al-Afghani is the spiritual father of the Salafiyya movement. So to answer your question, I do not rely on a Jewish perspective vs an Arab perspective but rather I do research as I always do, from as many angles as possible. That also means that I do not judge someone's research by the fact that they have a Jewish last name but rather their quality and rigor of research.

Wish I could write you privately. I was born and raised in the M.E. so know the history. Please don't be offended. I always look at sources. Will be buying your book shortly so I haven't read your posts closely, you're right. The Grand Mufti meme has been a favorite of racist Zionist propagandists online for the past 30 years so I'm a bit paranoid. Really curious how you became interested in this. Most Westerners aren't. Very glad you're addressing the history you are. I grew up watching Westerners rape the M.E. so it's pretty personal to me. Right now following M.E. news is excruciatingly painful.

Yes, western imperialism has done so much to destroy and set back civilization in the Middle East and I understand where you are coming from and am sorry for what you have gone through. Thank you for clarifying, and look forward to your further thoughts on this after reading the book. FYI you can always personally message me by responding directly to any of my substack posts when it arrives in your inbox. Your email response is sent directly to my email.
