For the past two days I’ve read and listened about Obama’s meeting with Joe trying to get him to step down or strongly push a reparations program and the SC decision to end racist affirmative action in college admissions practices. So as I always do here’s my comment. The very ironic view I take from the past two days is that one group of people involuntarily were horrendously bought and sold by one political party that started a civil war over their insistence to continue this evil. Now the same political party wants to buy that same group of people with reparations which very well could start a civil war again . Why do sane people continue to support a political party that insists on dividing people into groups based on race, sexual orientation, and financial status? They decide which group to extort money from, give an education to, or just hand out privilege to, based on their idea of which group should be picked as a beneficiary of their racism. It seems to me that these marxists are pushing the exact opposite of what America was supposed to stand for. It seems all thoughts and policies from the democrat party are based on skin color with the ultimate goal to divide and destroy America. Maybe it’s just me. J.Goodrich

One of the great ironies is Texas, recently one of the world's foremost oil (energy) producers reduced to brownouts and operating very near running out of electricity. Left wing idiots (Guardian newspaper) salute all the new solar this last , but after doubling to .8% of TX energy in the last year, it's not meaningful, and at a huge expense. It provides only an average of 6.4 hours per day of energy--what do you do after 5:30 pm when it is no longer producing---your AC needs to continue all evening. And wind? Never fails, hot, stagnant air, then no wind, no electricity. T Boone Pickens pulled a fast one, but then, T Boone called for natural gas to back up all the wind he promoted. And that promotion needs to be operating over 60% of the time--over 60% of TX time has no wind electricity production.
Texas has my sympathies! One suspects promotions of the (15 - 20 yr) solar panels on every roof will be next. Greenies aren't likely to let any opportunity to go to waste.
I’m not a greenie but my house and shop run on solar which is on my roof and backup batteries. Anyone who can should, as the cost is going to go down while grid electric will go up.
The big question is how much electricity do you require? Have you converted to a 12 volt system? If not and you are grid tied, you may go down too when the grid goes. TX is running triple digits, not uncommon in the summer. That is a lot of cooling. And often high humidity-gulf coast-and when night time lows are in the 70's or more. I can see high 90's personally, sometimes triple digits, but we always crank down to the fifties at night, less, so just open/ close windows. I don't presume my method of saving bucks will work for the rest of the country, especially an industrial economy. This whole "green" energy mess is so ludicrous! There's only one green energy-that's photosynthesis. And it requires CO2.
Agree! I'm lucky in that I have leafy trees shading my house. I can't get it's windows open, but when one can catch helpful cool night air it's terrific. Good solutions to you!
My solar panels came with a 25 year warranty, better than my roof which is aluminum. Panels usually function at about 50% after that. The panels on both Voyagers were still functioning when they left our solar system. They launched 45 YEARS ago. Please stop bashing solar. It’s not for everyone but it sure as hell has worked for many.

My hometown Torrance, CA has been under attack from lunacy at their Council meetings with people protesting and interrupting meetings because they have not acknowledged Pride month. I had no idea, but my son attended a meeting for a school assignment. He just told me they were meeting again to discuss changing this policy which is so sad.
