Unsolicited pool music recommendation: Tito Ramírez "El Prince". Wild musical mix of soul, mambo, boogaloo, rock and roll, psych, and more with one of the greatest LP covers I've seen in some time.

Patrick DeWitt is one if my favourite authors! As an added bonus he’s a Canadian who comes from my neck of the woods on Vancouver Island. My fav books of his UNDERMAJORDOMO MINOR. He did a reading in our local bookstore when it came out and it was great to be able to tell him it was my fav book. Looking forward to his new one!

Looking forward to diving into the Hidden Systems and influences you list. I'll have to check out the WHAM! doc too—and holy moses, that's amazing news about Chris Smith's next two projects. (Side note: finally watched the Wright Sparks doc after seeing them live and also *finally* get the band now.)

If you haven't seen it--and if it's possible to see it--you should check out Chris Smith's very first feature length film, American Job. It's not a documentary, but it's documentary-ish. So good.
