What I fear is some kind of escalation the West will not be able to walk back from. The longer this goes on, without some concession, or Zelensky still running this slaughterfest - the more we are all at risk this thing involves more nations or someone is stupid enough to set off a tactical nuke.

I never understood how a people born from the same source could be incited against another, when in an average Ukrainian family it is not known where the Ukrainian and Russian kinship begins ! I say this from experience!
That's called civil war and that's what this one is. One part (the territory of the former Ukrainian SSR) has been thoroughly brainwashed with Bandera ideology, one of hate towards Russia. The West actively promoted it. The rest of the world couldn't care less all these last three-four decades but it was well known by those who paid attention.
While at it ask yourself what Polish hatred of Russia is based on. It's centuries old. And it's been said by blood they're the closest to the Russians among western Slavs.
