My favorite friend tradition is that three of my girlfriends and I get together for sushi about twice a year. They all have teenagers now, but we've been friends since around 2001, and I am so glad that our friendship has endured. Two of them are high school friends of my ex, so it was a relief that they still wanted to be my friend after the ex and I split up. (Of course, it helps that he and I are still good friends and go out to dinner regularly too.)
