This is kind of an experiment, my first post on Substack, which I am just learning how to use. --SB

Hi Stephen - Great to see you on substack and an excellent first article. Potent summary of the problems you describe in great detail in your books. Fathers have very few friends in congress and that is killing us isn't it.

At age seventy, I am in the fourth year of a four-year divorce. It's like being a mouse on a cork floating down the Mississippi; you can swim a little right, a little left, upstream or down a few feet, but in general, you are going where the river (the court) takes you. I should have learned from my first marriage, but I ended up saying The Words on a second. Now she wants the remnants of my retirement and savings from the first marriage.

Don't get me wrong; I think marriage is a great institution, but the one-sidedness of which sex usually files for divorce (80% women, 90% if she is college-educated) demonstrates the moral hazard inherent in Western divorce law. Should I ever marry again, I'm looking overseas - probably the Philippines or Russia, (if that's ever possible again) - and I AM STAYING THERE. Under no circumstances would I ever marry or BE married in the West and invite the State into my life again -certainly not under the current law. And I'm telling my two unmarried adult sons to do the same.

I've just subscribed to your substack. As a follower of Bettina Arndt and Janice Fiamengo I have found substack to be the best way of keeping up with their content - and also finding it later when I'm looking for something.

Great article! I am just aghast at how many people, from all sides of politics, deny the truth of what marriage (or any sort of "relationship" with a woman) means for men these days, when, as you say, the evidence is all around them and incontrovertible.

One who really surprised me was Jordan Peterson, when he also advised young men to marry. His reasons were slightly different, coming from his perspective as an evolutionist on the benefits to a man for making the effort. Many have written him off on account of this, but to me he has made such exceptional contributions over several years that I'm happy to disagree with him on this.

As a fledgling on Substack I am greatly encouraged by your good example. I have personal knowledge through mutual friends of a Virginia man who, after typically ruinous divorce has left the U. S. for good, met and married a Philipino and plans to reside there 'until death do us part."

Good to see you on Substack, Professor. Great article. You have to hand it to the feminists, they've been unbelievably effective, even if most of what they say is insidious propaganda.
