Moreno lying isn't a bug, it is a feature of anyone endorsed by T. An MRI of Moreno would not find any evidence of a spine

Thank you for any and all exposure about Moreno being a corrupt liar. Sherrod Brown, Senator from Ohio running for re-election, is a treasure to Ohioans and to our nation, and your investigation should help Brown beat the Trump lying lackey and make it clear who will be the honest representative for all Ohio voters.

Should. Sadly, it probably won't. Right now, Ohio Republicans could probably grab a random inmate out of any jail or lunatic asylum, stick them in a suit and get 45% of the vote without even trying.

Agreed. And they have!

I am reminded once again of Steve Konacki's podcast The Revolution about Newt Gingrich rise to power. In it he details how Newt used the failings of certain democrats to rise to Speaker, while he was doing the very same things. Democrats at the time did not strike back with the same level of veracity allowing themselves to be painted in the corrupt light. The CONservatives through their gatherings at Davos, Aspen, Jackson Hole, Palm Springs and others sat behind closed doors and plotted America's future in their image. To put it simple, EVERY ACCUSATION IS THEIR CONFESSION. Judd has done a great job bringing that out and this article is just the latest in a long list of the CON job of the republicans.

Oh, Rickey, it has been so painful watching my party play by the rules as the other party has grown increasingly dishonest over the past four decades. I do not want to copy lying liars, but I would like to hit back hard, metaphorically of course.

Yes, Katy. I agree with you. Matthew Dowd, former republican advisor says it well.

"Democrats keep fighting these battles with one hand tied behind their backs, the upper hand." He states it well. I think Rick Wilson and his group have been very good at hitting back at their former party with their ads and the dems should take out their pages and use them. The repubs give plenty of material, dems just need to use it. Stop being afraid of the repubs and hit them hard.

I remind people that it is ALL of the republicans that allow this stuff to happen. Mass shootings, failing schools, healthcare system, pollution, regressive politics - all brought to you by the CONservative leadership.

We are if like minds. The gun business really pisses me off.

I sure hope that Moreno is defeated by a large number (70% to 30% comes to mind) and he is exposed for the liar he is, which is much like the fool he admires— Donald Trump-- the prototype of what a pathological liar is.

Why does becoming a politician after being a car salesman seem like such a natural pivot for a GOP hopeful like Moreno?

Expand full comment

As we used to say about Nixon: would you buy a used car from that man?

"As his wealth increased, so did his interest in Republican politics."

Well that's the whole point, isn't it. For most of the GOP, it's not about governing, it's about power to keep increasing their personal wealth. How do their economic lower and middle-class supporters not see this?! It just boggles the mind.

Keep the spotlights shining, Judd!

Lying seems to be the hallmark of the GOP. This guy sounds like Trump, but can lie in a complete sentence. Gullible,( I am being kind here) and trademark "vote for the Trump endorsed R candidate, no matter how bad," the current status of GOP party members.

Corruption begins and ends with lying. Without it, there would be no fascism.

I don't live in Ohio, but I hope folks who do and read this, share widely, and reference it in emails to the Plain-Dealer's editors. And send to Sherrod Brown!!

So Many lies and lying politicians... and so little time...to chase them all down.

Simple solution...

there truly are less liars in the Democratic party...

For less liars in government... vote Democrat.

Problem solved...at least in 2024-28

Where is the Ohio media on this? Are the big city mainstream media reporting on this candidates' lies in Ohio?

And, most importantly, does anyone not know that selling cars requires a master class of prevarication? This man lied for a living and now wants to lie his way into Congress? Oh ho Ohio, wake the f up.

There is no media in Ohio. It too, has been corrupted. Oh, there are a few respectable journalists remaining at the Plain Dealer, but for the most part, their voices have been muted. The Ohio Capital Journal out of Columbus is good, but their online presence is way to small to be of any impact. Where I live, the local newspaper is but a shell, mostly for advertising, and for regurgitating conservative propaganda. Ohio is a sad place these days; the most corrupt state in the union.

Thank you for giving us this information. How about gathering like minded people near you to put out a weekly column--we have great substack resources in Judd Legum, Thom Hartmann, Heather Cox Richardson, Joyce Vance, Diane Francis, Tom Snyder, and more?! A possible title: What Happened to Media in Ohio?

Expand full comment

I think we already have that, Valerie, in the aforementioned Ohio Capital Journal. As I said, their presence is small, but maybe, if we can get this out to all Ohioans, and elsewhere, they can establish a larger footprint, and make a lot more noise. https://ohiocapitaljournal.com/

You "already have that" --you already have what? I'm suggesting a way of reprinting some of Judd Legum's and other's brilliant articles in the format of a column for an Ohio newspaper... to impart and share this precious information that we are privy to.

I'm sorry, Valerie, I badly misunderstood!! And YEAH!!, that's a great idea. Even a lug like me should be able to pull that off. I'm not real confident about what's left of our local "paper", and their willingness to engage, but it is most certainly worth the effort! Maybe if I can get someone to listen, I can get something going here, and we can begin to counter all the MAGAt BS that has infested Northeast Ohio. I'm on it!

Don't know about MOST corrupt, but yeah, it's pretty bad. Gannett has really done a number on the local papers.

Born and raised in Ohio, left in late 60s. I thought I'd go back someday, but Ohio left me! I don't recognize the state where I grew up. It's gone full MAGA; the only hope is that educated people who live there will turn the angry MAGAts to a minority!

Expand full comment

Sadly, the educated folks are fleeing. The only true reason I'm still here is because my aging parents are here. They can't, and won't leave their home, and I can't, and won't, leave them. So a bit of a conundrum; I can't stand it here, but I pray my folks will be here for a long time to come ( they're both late 80's ). When the day does arrive, I'll be like you - gone for good.

Republicans are the oysters of the political world.

They secrete lie after lie, layer by layer like toxic pearls, stringing them together to form a necklace of the oppression they desire, promote and call "freedom."

What are "rolled oysters"? Don't want to miss out on a good option.

Think pan-fried in a batter but more oysters and they're shaped into a quasi “roll.” so when you bite into the roll, you get deep-fried crust and tender oysters inside. I grew up in Louisville, KY and there was a chain of restaurants that specialized in them. If the links works, I'm sure Southern Living does a better job of describing them!

This entire article needs to be spread around. Ohio would be a great place to hype it up for all to hear! Without consequences for deadly crimes, violations of the Constitution and laws, the truth can be hidden with dire consequences. This is a caught-red-handed article. These are black & white facts and I would love to see the faces of RescumliCons when confronted with it. The hard core MAGAs are both brain dead and frankly as large of a group as the media leads us to believe. This info is for those with an ounce of sense.
