So where will they serve their sentences, and who enforces them? Is the Italian government involved in taking any of them into custody and/or imprisoning them? Mincione lives in London, correct? Are the Brits going to extradite him? I seem to remember that British courts were highly skeptical of the Vatican's case earlier in the process. Might they just ignore the Vatican?
Thanks for all your hard work making sure that the Pillar readers are at the forefront of the latest developments in this seemingly never-ending trial 😀 Kudos on a job well done 👏 and accurately reported 👏 👍
The pillar is the only one that can tell the story accurately. This is so complicated, but what is glaringly clear is that greed really is the root of all evil in this story. m
While I'm confident the appeals will go on for so time, I hope especially Ed. but also J.D. & everyone else at "The Pillar" will take a victory lap for the finest English-language coverage of these scandals, attempted cover ups, & trial (& possibly the finest coverage available in any language, but I'm a monoglot).
Why do financial crimes in the Vatican lead to trials and prison sentences but horrific sexual abuse (such as what Fr. Rupnik has been accused of) don’t seem to have any possibility of prison as an outcome? Is prison a possibility in those cases and it is just never used or is there something in canon law that makes the penalties fundamentally different? (I’m sorry if this was covered and I missed it.)
Related to this, it makes me wonder if the questions about Vatican money being sent to Australia had anything to do with Cardinal Pell's trial. Is this a vindication of sorts for Cardinal Pell? I pray for all involved that they make themselves right with the Lord. I ask for prayers for Cardinal Pell and maybe from him? If this is related, he paid a big price and I miss his voice.
Kudos to The Pillar for their coverage of the trial.
When a defendant is “barred from holding public office” what does that mean in practice? If that is just in the Vatican City State, that doesn’t mean much. For Cardinal Becciu, I doubt if that has any meaning at all, at this stage in his life or his Church career.
This has just made my 14 year old's day.
Thanks for your fast, but trustworthy!, reporting.

Too bad that Cardinal Pell did not live to see this.
I prayed for the outcome of the trial last night. I'm looking very forward to reading Ed's analysis of the verdicts.
Incredibly concise retelling of 2 years of convoluted conspiracy. It seems like the screenplay is on its way soon

How will the Pillar function without this trial? Marvel movies began to stink after the Thanks arc, will the pillar go the same way?
Ed & JD, ye can't leave us waiting another week until next podcast after today's news! 😄

Great work on this subject

Well done Pillar. This is the stuff I subscribe for. Well, this and Caustic Ed.
