As I thought about the topic to write on, I had no clue what to pick. I just knew that ice cream is something that is in my mind. What can be the least connected thing to it? Rockets was the answer. And here I am, trying to connect these two random topics and pondering if at all there are any connections between the two.
Wait! I have something exciting to say! Now, I have published a book with essays like these. Read it at your leisure and see the beauty of how random things can be connected.

My mother was watching tv the other day. She was watching Mission Mangal and the film is about building and launching a rocket in the least amount of money with a team of not so proven people. As the team worked hard to launch the rocket in the space, I had a question in my mind-
Why is it hard to believe people and excavate their talent?
I pondered a while but I did not find the answer so I thought harder and started watching the movie. It is not that the people they are looking at are irresponsible and good for nothing. ( no one is) But the notions of the society and the perception is skewed. The extremely harsh treatment of the two protagonists makes them toil hard and achieve the impossible.
So why is it that the world is fascinated by rockets? At the core of it, it is a piece of metal. A piece that has not been joined and detached it. It is the power of flight. A flight from that piece of metal to a spacecraft that crosses the sky and reaches the space.
Rockets are example of life. Each nut and bolt comes in cohesion to become this supremely attached machine of flight and makes it achieve unimaginable things. We think that rockets need big engines and machines to make it possible. But it is not just that. It is also the tiniest joint it has in it. They make the rocket fly together. One wrong and it does not go in the sky and probably blasts. But life is easier that way. One wrong does not lead to us bursting.
(unless you are a suicide bomber who has failed the job. Funny how the most useless jobs have no second chances. Good for them. They would find their heaven)
Our job is to make sure that we right our wrongs and learn from the rights as well as wrongs. Tweaking it would always lead to a better rocket. But how is ice cream related to this launch of glory? Simple. Celebration. Ice cream is indeed a celebration of life. You need to cherish it the way you like it. Of course, it is called a milk shake when melted but who am I to judge? Maybe mix it in maggi and sell it in Ahmedabad for 400 rs? Add cheese or mayonnaise and you would have a flock of people going gaga over it. I did not mean to attack the whole street food industry. Or did I?
But the crazy part about ice cream is that an emperor in Rome, Nero, ordered his servants to get ice with fruit toppings. This idea was further developed by the Chinese Empereor, Tang, who created concotions of ice and milk. And this became the birth of ice cream. It has been through a few changes and now, we have all sorts of ice creams with us. The ones that are handmade, machine made, made by robot or an app and so on! 1
Ice creams have become an inseparable part of our life. They are omnipresent. You see them everywhere and they are these fine forms of happiness that can become ice or shake or milk dep ending on how you prefer and store them. The flavors are neverending. Ice creams are also preferred with Gulab Jamun. Oh, I see a group of people going wtf. Yes, that is a common combination!
But we highly underestimate the power of them. An ice cream can please people. Especially kids. But try and take it away from them and you shall unwrap a fury. A fury that is unparalleled and unmatched. You would never have imagine the power and the rage that a kid can have. They burst like rockets that have failed during the time.
So finally, what do Rockets and ice cream have in common? An explosion. A journey. A journey that you take to feel better. A journey that a group of scientists and engineers take together to form something that develops into a benchmark that is of happiness, a benchmark that becomes a beacon of hope, a better future, and of undiscovered happiness. They all come together to experiment and present you different possibilities.
After all, it is all about flavours and little parts of life coming together and giving us an experience that would make us cherish our lives. Big or small, the experience is equally important!
