I had mostly ignored the Basecamp founders "interesting" opinions, but after reading the piece linked in this edition of Platformer, I've cancelled my HEY sub. One might say I WOKE up (ho ho). Thanks for linking. And keep up the groovy work on Platformer.

He's doing a great job. Argue all you want, the results of cutting hopefully over 90% of staff are he's likely profitable 1.5 billion according to hedge fund manager Gary Black. As much as people like to whine, he will likely not be dependent on Ads and things will get done faster than ever. Wait 90 days and see. Everything else is noise.

Seems like a lot of us were struck by that link, myself included. I'm looking forward to canceling my subscription too when the time comes up. That, and letting my Basecamp-using friends know about how terrible his "opinions" are. They'll definitely switch off the platform. Vote with your dollar, right?

Also, the app's unspoken fundamental premise - systems send from emails that are specific to their purpose - is flawed. They aren't. I can't count the number of `do-not-reply@example.com` sites where I've sent them to either the Feed (newsletters/marketing) or Paper Trail (receipts, bank statements) and then had something important go to those feeds not to be discovered much later.

You think they'd give us regex or basic pattern matching in the subject at least. Even "starts with" or "contains" would do wonders. Gave them 2 years of my money, time to get it back.
