🎓5 Things Bill Gates Wishes He Could Tell His 21-Year-Old Self
Graduation/Commencement season is upon us, which means the interwebs will be flooded with commencement speeches.
I found this one from Bill Gates refreshing. Gates doesn’t accept many invites, which is why I immediately clicked on this. One of the things I really enjoyed was how he took the pressure off the graduates. I think, inherently, there is a lot of pressure to have things figured out and your path plotted. His Point #5 is “You are not a slacker if you cut yourself some slack”. That, and the other 4 points, were great reminders.
🧙♂️AI-created trailer for Lord of the Rings
One of our readers sent me this link with a simple message, “Check out this new LOTR trailer”. Admittedly, I didn’t read the caption on the video and didn’t notice that the whole thing was created by AI. Crazy!
📞 5 Times You Should Make a Phone Call to Get Things Done
We talk about communication at work a lot. I’ve come to the conclusion in life that there are just some situations that require stepping away from the keyboard (sending the angry email is never a good idea!)
This article has some great counsel about when it’s best to pick up the phone (or have the conversation in person).
🤔Avoiding Bad Decisions
“Never make important decisions when you’re tired, emotional, distracted, or in a rush.”
This post contains some great advice just like the quote above. Highly recommended. It reminds me of a lot of the wisdom in Colin Powell’s book, “It Worked For Me”
🍽️Food Disgust Test
I took this Food Disgust Test which offers a series of scenarios to gauge how grossed out you would be in different situations. The test is relatively short and the insights are pretty interesting. I found out my food disgust is average at 69%, and my biggest triggers for disgust is poor hygiene and human contamination. Information I didn’t know I needed in my life. 😆
