The Media Obsession With Angry GOP Voters Is Killing America
Their opinion isn't the most important thing in the world. Fuck those assholes.
9 years after Trump waddled down that escalator in Manhattan in front of a crowd of hired actors, the media cannot stop obsessing over him and his cult of rage monsters.
1 stolen election, 4 years of corruption, incompetence, and fascism, a quarter of a million unnecessary deaths, 91 indictments, and 1 insurrection later, and we are still bombarded with constant coverage of Trump and his imbecile followers.
Here’s ABC hard at work doing just that:
One of the most important jobs the media has these days is making sure we all hear the opinions of angry Trump voters as often as possible. They shoved this down our throats so much, New York Times Pitchbot has an entire series of jokes about reporters in small midwestern locations talking to MAGAs. Despite reaching the point of parody, the media cannot stop themselves.

The effect of this oversaturation, if not the explicit goal1, was to A. Normalize the deeply abnormal Republican base and B. Frame their aberrant viewpoints as the default position.
This is why during the 2016 election, there were hundreds of interviews and panels and town hall meetings with Trump supporters and hardly any with Hillary supporters. After Trump “won,” the press said we needed to understand Trump voters so we needed even more interviews and panels and town hall meetings.
When Trump lost in 2020, did the press rush out to talk to Biden voters? No. It was wall-to-wall coverage of angry Republican voters again. Which was weird. In 2016, we needed to understand the voters of the winning candidate. In 2020, we needed to understand the voters of the losing candidate.
Now here we are in 2024 and we need to understand…Trump supporters. Again. It’s been an entire decade of interviews and panels and town halls with MAGAland. We understand them pretty fucking well by now. But that’s not the point.
I’ll remind you that back during Obama’s presidency, the media spent 10 seconds interviewing Obama voters. Then they spent the rest of his time in office obsessing over the Tea Party, AKA, angry white Republicans.
See how this game is played? If Trump wins in November, it will be “historic” and the media will need to understand Trump voters. If (when) Trump loses, the media will need to understand Trump voters. 4 years from now, the media will obsess over Nikki Haley voters. After she loses, they will still obsess over Nikki Haley voters.
The media continues to fail us in every way imaginable.
There are 278 days until the 2024 election. Vote blue like your life depends on it.
Honestly, I’m 85% certain this was the explicit goal.
