Maybe not in your corner, but over here in mine - it’s starting to feel like Spring. AND, Spring deliveries are just hitting stores. The first thing I want to shop for every March - sandals. Then? Shorts. Then? Dresses. I’m still *technically* on a shopping fast - I’ve made it through Jan & Feb without buying anything, and so now I just kind of want to see how long I can go? But these are the things I have my eye on.
BLACK DRESSES
There’s something I really love about a black day dress in warmer months. It feels…not quite subversive, but certainly less sweet.
1. Very floaty and gauzy, and I love the lace up back. Matteau, $580
2. Ok, so this is dark navy, not black… but let’s roll with it. A sweet vintage-inspired frock that can easily go fancy with some heels, and comes in sizes up to XXL. Doen, $498
3. I love the dainty ties on this otherwise voluminous poplin dress. I’d wear this without a bra, but it would also be very sweet with something lacy underneath. Ganni, $200
NOT BLACK BUT STILL COOL DRESSES
I do also enjoy not black dresses - but prefer something like this over florals…
1. LEGSSSS! I love a mini shift dress, and the neckline on this one is so so pretty. Posse, $250
2. This one is so cool - kind of tomboyish even though it has a bra-like detail. Bevza, $625
3. Dream of all dreams - a bouncy knit dress from Jil Sander with contrast stitching. I loooooooooove the U neck. Jil Sander, $1,120
SHORTS
Good shorts are impossible to find. I forgot to add these though, which I also really, really love!
1. A few weeks ago, I went to the beach with Danielle Sherman and her family - her older daughter was wearing a pair of silver Umbros with a big oversized tee and Oakley-style reflective sport sunglasses and she looked SO COOL. I ordered these from the beach (in men’s size M - I wanted them sort of baggy). They’re perfect - I mostly wear mine with a navy cotton sweater and New Balances and I feel 1000000. Umbro, $22
2. Another boxer-ish style I love. These are a lovely cotton poplin, I have them in a pant version, and are so chic with an oversized white button down. Comme Si, $72
3. A silly little short - I like how they puff out and that they’re made of nylon. I love Sacai. Sacai, $540
SANDALS
1. These are Havianas, believe it or not! The footbed is all spongy and padded, as are the straps. They come in three colorways, but I like this one the best. Havianas, $74
2. A very beautiful, classic brown leather sandal that won’t bankrupt you. Wear them all summer! A. Emery, $
3. And finally, possibly the most graceful, beautiful sandal of all time. I love how the strap across the foot starts narrow then gets wider. And the bit between your toes is a little gold disk on the sole. They’re satin, so definitely dressier, but man - they are perfect. Saint Laurent, $775
MORE BITCHY SUMMER SHOES
Not sandals, but not serious either.
1. I’m a real sucker for a rope detail, and these give me 80s banker’s wife on a Yacht in a way that is very very satisfying. Le Monde Beryl, $463
2. I fucking love these stupid Gucci clogs. They’re polished, beautiful, and classic but so unnecessary it makes me want them more. They are the very definition of a silly little shoe. However, picture them with the Umbros or the Comme Si shorts? Genius. Gucci, $730
3. I’ve wanted a pair of these little Manolo slides forever. A true classic, and also excellent with the Ubmros and Comme Si. You’ll wear these forever. Manolo Blahnik, $745
And that! Is all she wrote. I love you!
Your friend,
Laurel
good dupe for the Manolo blahniks is the Margaux slides!
I have those stupid Gucci clogs in like a bright blue crushed velvet from yearssss ago and they are so dumb and so fun
