We’re already into March and New Year only seems like the other day.
This year is waiting for nobody!

My February wrap-up went live this Monday. Check it out below:
I mentioned last month that I had finally figured out how to tell a story I’ve plotted countless times. Well, that story is written. It’ll need editing, but I’m pleased with it.
I made a few notes this week for my fictional city where a lot of my stories take place. Just a few hundred words about the geography and history of it, but it’s good to get some information down.
I wrote a note asking if you would like me to add a flash fiction section and it seems that you would. Thankfully, because I am doing it! I started Substack a couple of years ago just to post flash fiction set in the Victorian era but didn’t understand how to use Substack to grow. Since starting Victorian Vignettes I haven’t posted on there and would rather keep everything in one place.

I didn’t write a full post for today, thought I’d take a bit of time off. However, I have notes for two posts. One of them has a paranormal theme, and one of my earliest posts on Victorian Vignettes was about ghosts. You might be interested in it so I will link it below:

Thrashed out some notes on some ideas that I had for future books this week. Nothing too detailed because I have my current Work in Progress to wrestle with but I didn’t want to lose the ideas to time.
During my time off I listened to a podcast that I’d not listened to for over a year. The Dark Histories Podcast! The narrator, Ben, goes into lots of true crime and a lot of it is from the Victorian era. He does enough research and reading to dry out the eyes of an average man, and as a result, the episodes are sometimes over an hour long. I highly recommend it.
This led me down a welcome rabbit hole.
I discovered a few channels that tell these quite satisfying short horror stories. The ones I know off the top of my head are Scary Interesting, Booze & Boos, and Mr Nightmare. There are some more and some cover ‘true’ occurrences as well as fiction.
But my lucky run of great content was about to end - I watched the recent film, The Boogeyman.
It was not time well spent and I can never get it back. Stupid film.
I went back to the post I’d been working on a few weeks ago thinking it only needed a light edit.
Well, it was a hell of a hot mess that took me ages to suplex into something that made sense. There is a good chance I won’t have it ready for Macabre Monday - I have more suplexing to do.

Got my haunted house post done and scheduled. You can read it below:
I just remembered that I’m reading I Am Providence on my Kindle. Started it a couple of months ago but haven’t picked my Kindle up for ages - it probably needs charging…
Speaking of not picking something up for ages, I’ve not read The Watchmaker of Filigree Street in so long. I’m only about five chapters in and it wasn’t bad so I will get back to it.
I came to the conclusion that I need to make some decisions on all these half-read books. Which ones shall I prioritise? Which ones shall I abandon? I have to be aggressive here. I shall enter April swinging.
