On The Joe Rogan Experience, Number 2138, at about the 2 hour and 45 minute mark, Rogan brings up the JFK classified files with his guest Tucker Carlson. Very shortly after that, Carlson replies with something interesting about what happened to him the day after he broadcast his “CIA had a Role in the JFK Case” program for Fox. If the reader does not recall, that was on December 15, 2022.
On that program Carlson posed questions as to why President Trump and President Biden both had decided to disobey the JFK Records Collection Act stricture: namely that all classified files should be released by October, 2017. Carlson was rightly puzzled by this, and then said that, “Clearly, its not to protect any person. They’re all dead. Its to protect an institution. But why?”
He then went on to say that he had spoken to someone who had access to the CIA documents still classified on the JFK murder. Carlson asked him, “Did the CIA have a hand in the murder of John F. Kennedy, an American President?” The man’s reply was this: “The answer is yes.” Carlson then said that this person was not a “conspiracy theorist”, it was not even close: “This is someone with direct knowledge of the information that once again is being withheld from the American public.”
That was almost a year and a half ago. Carlson was strongly attacked right after the broadcast for somehow giving voice to the tin foil hat crowd and their wild conspiracy theories about what happened to JFK. This went on for days. Washington lawyer Mark Zaid went after Carlson online at Twitter on December 18th, 2022. Zaid challenged both Carlson’s source and the premise and said he would appear anytime to debate him on his show. Zaid said even worse, but we will leave it at that.
It turns out that, in all probability, the source for Carlson’s story was former CIA Director Mike Pompeo. On the Rogan show, Carlson revealed that the day after that broadcast he got a phone call from Pompeo’s lawyer. It was a threatening call about what he had said the day before. Carlson stated that, you mean me saying that on TV was somehow worse than keeping secret who killed Kennedy? (The reader can view the show on You Tube.)
What is so interesting about this is that Pompeo was not the director of the CIA at the time the original Carslon show aired. In fact, he was not even in the government at that time. He was a private citizen serving on conservative think tank boards of directors and giving speeches for very expensive fees. Yet even though he had no connection to the government he had his lawyer call and threaten Carlson.
What makes this doubly interesting is a similar disclosure by Judge Andrew Napolitano on his podcast with Dr. Jeffrey Sachs, who was and is very interested in the JFK case. Napolitano said that his last talk with Trump was before he left the White House; Trump had about a week left. Trump wanted to run a list of people he was going to pardon past the judge, since Andrew knew some of them. Napolitano reminded Trump that he had made a promise, via Twitter, to the public to let go of the last of the JFK files. But he had not done so. Trump replied that if they had shown the judge what they had shown him, Napolitano would not have released the files either. Napolitano asked, well who is they and what did they show you? Trump replied that one day when they were on the phone and there were not 15 people listening to the call, he would tell him. (See the clip of this at MintPress News at Twitter, dated March 15, 2024)
Why is that important? Not just for the pregnancy of the conversation. But for this fact: Pompeo was the CIA Director at the time when Trump was going to release the final documents, As we revealed in the film JFK Revisited, on the day he was going to declassify the documents the CIA came into the oval office and pleaded with him not to do so. Does anyone really think that such an extraordinary act, which was played up in the press, could have been done without Pompeo’s sanction? In fact, in all probability, he was there in the oval office.
On that program with Rogan, Carlson said that, from what was told to him, the man they were trying to protect with extended secrecy was Counter-Intelligence chief James Angleton. Again, this is important. Since in the work of John Newman, Lisa Pease, Jeff Morley and myself, this is the CIA officer who had access to all of Oswald’s files at the Agency and was monitoring him all the way until about a week before the assassination. Again, it is very unlikely that Carlson knew about this, so it would indicate that he is telling the truth about what his source told him.
When we add in the revelations of HSCA (House Select Committee on Assassinations) investigator Betsy Wolf, this gets even more fascinating. Betsy Wolf had the job of analyzing the Oswald file at the CIA. First, she requested the charters of every division within the Agency. She then read them over and mapped out a line on an imaginary graph as to where, from the charters, Oswald’s file should have gone. She then asked for the Oswald file.
To her surprise, the Oswald file did not do anything like she predicted it should. Instead of going to the SR (Soviet Russia) division, it went to the Office of Security. And that would explain why there was no 201 file—the most common file in the Agency-- set up, even when the CIA knew that Oswald had defected and threatened to give away radar secrets to the Russians. Because for the simple reason that the Office of Security usually does not set up a 201 file. There is no doubt one should have been created, as Wolf found out from doing an inquiry.
She then began to call in Agency and former Agency officers who knew something about the routing of CIA files. They agreed with her, a 201 file should have been set up. Finally, in late 1978, she called in the present head of the Office of Security, Robert Gambino. He told her that it did not matter how many copies of a document were sent, or who they were addressed to. If the client went to the first gate, the Office of Mail Logistics, then the files would only go there. James Angleton had direct access to the Office of Security because he had a secret unit inside that division called CI/SIG. Which was a mole hunting department. (Destiny Betrayed, second edition by James DiEugenio, p. 142)
Incredibly, from what the legendary British researcher Malcom Blunt sent me of Wolf’s work, her memos were not typed up into memoranda form. They exist only in handwritten notes. And they, of course, did not make it into the HSCA volumes. Who knows if anyone would have ever discovered them if not for the JFK Act. (See the book The JFK Assassination Chokeholds, pp. 95-97 for more on Wolf) But they seem to me to be of prime importance to the case. Since her discoveries strongly indicate that the CIA was rigging Oswald’s file from the time he defected to the USSR. And they did not want anyone else to know about that, or him. So no 201 file was opened.
What all this information indicates and how it relates to the newest disclosures by Tucker Carlson is this: James Angleton had a lot to hide. He was involved with the Oswald file from the time he defected, to the week before he allegedly shot Kennedy and then was shot himself. In addition to the rigging of the Oswald file, he was involved, along with CIA officer David Phillips, in the deceptions around Oswald and Mexico City. Which did so much to make people like President Johnson fall back on a national security pretext into a cover up about the Kennedy assassination. (See The JFK Assassination: The Evidence Today, pp. 298-306)
Is this why Mike Gambino is still carrying water for the man nicknamed The Ghost?
Why would you believe anybody who had "access" to the LHO files? If they're blaming Angleton, it makes sense he's actually the scapegoat. Angleton was trying to inform the US that the CIA had been infiltrated by the KGB. Isn't that right?
i remain doudtful any cia files which says cia killed JFK.but likely CIA files on those like angelton which makes them look bad reveal thing son operations which is released would make people think correctly CIA killed JFK.and even worse for them something which proves as many thought for years oswald us intelligence opeative and went to russia on fake defector operation.
