happy new year! are y’all hungover too?
i just got off an upstate weekend with some of my favorite people where we did our annual perfect tradition of a new year’s eve eve feast at perfect restaurant stissing house followed by a NYE party at my friend’s home with a wild spread. my friend bought me the big night cookbook for christmas and I was inspired to make a spinach and artichoke dip from it for the party!

it was an amazing two days and as i sit on the Amtrak back to the city, i decided instead of resolutions for 2025, i wanted to compile a non-comprehensive, opinionated, and completely correct in/out list of what i am craving/yearning/despising/wishing to change in 2025! so, without further adieu…
in - big ideas
i don’t need another expensive basic italian place or a new smashburger spot. as britney spears says, gimme more!
out - small plates
my least favorite combination of any two words. (besides “i’m sorry”)
in - free bread
bring bread baskets back! sometimes carbone is extremely right about things!
out - pouring your own water from the carafe
give me hospitality!
in - switching plates between courses
can a girl dream of a clean plate between apps and entrees?
out - serving burgers without fries
especially when they are over 25 bucks! i’ll call the better business bureau…
in - sidecars with your martinis
it’s economical and i don’t make the rules when it comes to the economy!
out - only sweet non-alcoholic drink options
why is it always just homemade juices? i had an amazing NA drink at eel bar and we need more!
in - more outdoor dining
fuck you eric adams!
out - dogs inside restaurants!
i’m over it! i don’t care if your dog is cute, i don’t need it inside! i also saw a woman at penny eat with her dog strapped to her chest in a baby bjorn. that’s an immediate citizen’s arrest from me.
in - no reservations
resy has killed this city. i want to spontaneously go at a restaurant i didn’t plan to eat at three weeks ago.
out - reserving the seats at the bar
this space is sacred and should only be allowed to be first come, first serve!
in - gatekeeping
not everywhere is for everyone.
out - tiktok spots
i’m over viral foods and i’m over waiting in line.
calling the better business bureau with u
amen to it all
