Was the Secret Service behind the attempt to assassinate Donald Trump?
Some serious questions emerge from the images of the event
The assassin who shot at Donald Trump was only 130 metres away on a rooftop. For a serious marksman, it was an easy shot from high ground.
Some observers say the Secret Service waited before taking any action to prevent the shooter from shooting despite having seen the shooter before any rounds were fired.
Secret Service agents killed the shooter. They apparently had no problem making an accurate shot at the same range. Eyewitness accounts on X counted a total of somewhere between six and eight shots fired. As best I could glean from the posts, the shooter fired most of the shots. Investigation will surface more information on precisely how many shots were fired and by whom.
I was a teenager at a movie theater in Metz, France when the theatre manager, George Rae, stopped the movie and came out on the stage to tell the audience that John F. Kennedy had been shot in Dallas. Within hours, JFK’s assassin was killed by Jack Ruby. Conspiracy theories were legion but at least some of them point to the CIA as behind JFK’s assassination.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr., JFK’s nephew, is a presidential candidate. He has published compelling evidence that Sirhan Sirhan did not assassinate his father, Bobby Kennedy, but that a part of Kennedy’s security detail was the murderer.
American politics is a blood sport, in my opinion. Beginning with Lincoln and throughout U.S. history, attempts to assassinate political leaders have been frequent and from time to time successful. Hatred has replaced policy as the motivation for many voters, their rage fueled by divisive rhetoric from leaders who find more political capital in promoting fear than promoting policy changes.
I am not surprised there was an attempt on Trump. I will not be surprised if, after investigation, I learn of links between the deceased assassin and the so-called “Deep State” of three letter agencies of the Biden administration.
We will see.

The FBI can’t be trusted
Trump should hire a private firm to conduct an investigation into the shooting then post it on X
