Cosmic Legends’
Cosmic Legends’, Wayne Lopes on guitar, Sylvie Degiez on keyboard and Mike Bisio on bass, are an improvisational jazz group who brilliantly and subtly enhance the spoken words of poets.
Mike Bisio
Mike Bisio is an American jazz double bassist, composer, and bandleader. Since 2009 he has been the bassist for the Matthew Shipp Trio. He appears on over 100 CDs and has composed many works which have been performed in clubs, concert venues, and festivals.
Bisio composed the music for Karl Krogstad's film Strings (1985). Beat Angel (2004), a film by Randy Allred with Vincent Balestri, features Bisio's compositions and improvisations. Bisio composed music for Music for American Voices: Bukowski, Micheline and the First Amendment, a play written and performed by Vincent Balestri.
Sylvie Degiez
Sylvie Degiez is a pianist, composer and educator who has created and directed multiple performances that integrate music with words and visuals such as multimedia operas, voice recitals, music & words videos & poetry readings with music. A conceptual composer, Sylvie Degiez writes performance pieces for a variety of situations. She also teaches music @ The Young Composer Workshop, a program she created for young people that is in it's 3rd decade.
She hosted The Moon Saloon and CHRONOCOSMOS, evenings of poetry and improvisation at 92YTRIBECA. She has collaborated in various media with artists and poets including projects with poet/photographer Ira Cohen, musical readings with Taylor Mead, Judith Malina, Janine Pommy Vega, Andy Clausen, Pamela Twining and an ongoing multi disciplinary project at the Platte Clove gallery in upstate NY.
Wayne Lopes
Wayne Lopes is a guitarist and composer who has been a presence on the NY music scene for decades. He has created the music for many art performances, dance pieces and plays and has performed with The Human Arts Ensemble, Judith Malina and Hanon Reznikov of The Living Theater, Nico, Ken Little Hawk , Andy 3 Raven of Brothers of the Wind, and Perry Robinson. He is a founding member of the Gift of Eagle Orchestra with Van Manakas and Sylvie Degiez.
Wayne is a brilliant finger picker whose music always reveals something unexpected, something that will linger in the mind of his listeners. He is also a principal creator in the multi disciplinary performance project at the Platte Clove gallery in upstate NY.
Andy Clausen
Andy Clausen
Andy Clausen has travelled and read his poetry all over North America and the world. (New York, California, Alaska, Texas, Prague, Kathmandu, Amsterdam and elsewhere) He was co-editor of POEMS FOR THE NATION with Allen Ginsberg and Eliot Katz (Seven Stories Press). He was an editor at LONG SHOT Magazine. Andy has written about his adventures with Allen Ginsberg, Gregory Corso, Ray Bremser, Janine Pommy Vega, Peter Orlovsky, and many others of the Beat Generation. He is the author of “40th Century Man” and “Home of the Blues”, among other books of poetry. His latest book, “Beat: The Latter Days of the Beat Generation, a First Hand Account” was published by Autonomedia in fall of 2018. He is currently working on a book about his backpacking travels around Asia and Europe as well as a new volume of poetry.
Pamela Twining
Pamela Twining
Pamela Twining has traveled the US with her partner, poet Andy Clausen, performing her work in California, Colorado, New York City, Michigan, Wisconsin and places in between. Her work has appeared in Big Scream, Big Hammer, PoetryBay, The Café Review, Napalm Health Spa, and Heyday!, among others. With Andy Clausen, she is co-curator of “The Invisible Empires of Beatitude” page at The Museum of American Poetics (www.poetspath.com) and for several years, she co-produced the Janine Pommy Vega Poetry Festival in Woodstock, NY, where she and Clausen reside. She is author of four chapbooks, “i have been a river…”(2011), “utopians & madmen” (2012), “A Thousand Years of Wanting; the Erotic Poetry of Pamela Twining” (2013) and “Renegade Boots” (2019). A book of Selected Poems will be published in 2021 by Endpaper Press.
