
Report: Miller to hire Wade as assistant
MBB: The former standout at Arkansas coached at Alabama State the last two years

WOWT-TV’s Clayton Collier is reporting Alabama State Assistant Coach Mardracus Wade will join Ryan Miller’s staff at Murray State as an assistant coach. Miller was officially announced as Murray State’s newest head coach on Monday, but is finishing the season at Creighton as an assistant coach before he turns 100% of his attention to the Racers. Creighton defeated Louisville, 89-75, in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament on Thursday. They’ll play Auburn on Saturday, after the Tigers beat Alabama State, 83-63.
Wade just completed his second season as an assistant coach at Alabama State. Before coming to Alabama State, he spent two seasons as an assistant at South Carolina State.
Wade had a successful four-year playing career at the University of Arkansas, where he finished in the Top eight in school history in steals and in the Top 20 in made three-pointers.

After playing professionally in the NBA G-League and overseas, Wade returned home to Memphis to start his coaching career with the Hoop City Basketball Club. Ernie Kuyper, who was the longtime president of the Hoop City Basketball Club, has reportedly accepted the position of General Manager for Murray State’s program.
Wade got into college coaching at Memphis in 2019. He accepted a Graduate Assistant position under Penny Hardaway. After his time with the Tigers, he got his first full-time assistant coaching job at South Carolina State.
