Great Hope for Retatrutide: Triple–Hormone-Receptor Agonist for Obesity
Flexible Peptide Delivery for Individualization of Support
By Peter A. McCullough, MD, MPH
The first GLP-1 receptor agonist, exenatide (Byetta), was approved by the FDA in 2005 for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. Since that time there has been an explosion in numbers of products and expanding indications, particularly for the treatment of obesity.
Here's a more detailed timeline of GLP-1 receptor agonist approvals:
2005: Exenatide (Byetta) was approved by the FDA.
2010: Liraglutide (Victoza) was approved by the FDA.
2012: Extended-release exenatide (Bydureon) was approved for weekly dosing.
2014: Dulaglutide (Trulicity) and albiglutide (Tanzeum) were approved.
2016: Lixisenatide (Lyxumia in Europe, Adlyxin in the United States) was approved.
2017: Semaglutide (Ozempic and oral Rybelsus for diabetes) was approved.
2022: Tirzepatide (Mounjaro for diabetes) was approved.
All of these products are injections that work on the intestines, liver, and pancreas with the exception of oral Rybelsus. While these drugs have safety precautions, I have found them useful in the treatment of diabetes with additional renal and cardiovascular benefits. Many of my patients have asked me if there is a more flexible, patient-controlled product for weight loss which is a personal issue many do not want on full display as a “clinical problem” in the office.
The Wellness Company introduced DROP in 2025 as an easy to administer oral solution to the problem of excess weight leveraging the power of triple-receptor agonism with retatrutide. This peptide has been encapsulated in liposomes with polysaccharides to make it water-miscible and protect it from stomach acid while minimizing first pass clearance from the liver. For healthy individuals, oral peptide supplements are less likely to cause serious side effects because they are similar to the peptides present in everyday foods.
Retatrutide (LY3437943) is an agonist of the glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide, glucagon-like peptide 1, and glucagon receptors. Its dose–response relationships with respect to side effects, safety, and efficacy for the treatment of obesity are not fully known as an injectable product, however the data suggest it is more powerful than it’s predecessors.
DROP is an oral dropper or topical application of retatrutide that is used daily and can be adjusted to individual lifestyles and eating patterns. Control over food urges and hunger gives the power back to patients in a nutritional supplement. If you have been considering GLP drugs but have been looking for an alternative that keeps the issue personal, consider DROP from The Wellness Company.

While I have a great admiration for the courage displayed by the good doctor during the recent unpleasantness, I am less than happy that many of these posts have turned into commercials pushing pharmaceuticals.
As a victim of Ozempic myself, which I took as a Type 2 Diabetes remedy, I do not believe these drugs are the answer. Is this slightly less dangerous version of the drug any better? Personally, I would never take a chance on that!
Dr. McCullogh I attended a fundraiser for CHD in March 2022 in Chelsea, NYC. There I briefly met Tony Lyons. I told him I was a keen follower of Bobby Kennedy’s interviews with numerous physicians. He was a bit challenging, asking “Like who?” as if I would not have an answer. I was able to rattle off my short list of favorites starting with you, Zelenko, Cole, Urso, Kory … I don’t mean to leave anybody out. Not sure today who Bobby had tapped yet or not at that time.
I don’t think Bobby ever got around to Dr. Hazan. Her observation that the COVID shots wipe out the bifidobacteria is a powerful conceptual snag for any citizen … or Senator … addicted to childhood vaccines but open to reasons they are a big problem. There is a seminal deficiency in all existing safety trials related to inadequacy of assumptions and inputs missing from the designs. This is how big problems like shingles in 10-year-olds and sudden infant deaths are completely missed. The human microbiome is now front and center.
Anyway, Bobby kept the interviews coming even during his campaign. Farmers like Salatin, Kempf and Shiva are just as important and inspirational, not to mention his coverage of the Ukraine war with Ritter and MacGregor (on Spotify)… an issue not in the least unrelated to the “pandemic.” Substitute “catastrophe” for the word “issue.”
We follow not just iatrogenic physicians, but my wife spends a lot of time … never letting up … on alternative doctors like Ealy, Group Ardis, Patel in Canada, and lot of others. Many people are skeptical of non-iatrogenic healthcare but I can tell you these guys get results … not to be dismissed. I’m not saying you dismiss them … I’m just saying. Their progress has been sensational with many sufferers of COVID problems, toxicity from all sources and to the point, diabetes. Bobby Kennedy knows all of these guys.
IMO exposure to pharma products like OZEMPIC requires a certain level of ignorance (and stupidity) that would lead me to lecture Elon, not that I will ever meet him. He is smart but there is another kind of smart required to free oneself of conventional wisdom when it is in error. It comes from doing a lot of homework and taking numerous inputs and looking for constructive interference among them. These are coherent conclusions. MD degrees alone are not enough, to quote Scott Atlas. Elon had not yet done his homework when he was advertising OZEMPIC. There are solutions without exposing oneself to these complex molecules.
Deepest gratitude for all you have done. I shared one of your talks in 2021 with colleagues at work, from which I quote “There is nothing to be afraid of.” Too bad nobody believed it. I refused the shots and had to abandon my hi tech career of 43y. Two weeks later a colleague was dead immediately after his shot #2. Dead on Sunday, funeral on Tuesday. But is there any reasonable doubt about what happened?
On the topic of diabetes, I’m just mentioning that alternative methods can be quite successful with it. I’m not big on iatrogenic medicine, but a bit nervous about uttering famous last words.
And thanks for your contribution to saving the poor chickens!
