Last week on Instagram I posted about this and it warrants some serious attention.
First, I want you to stop what you’re doing for one moment and observe yourself…
observe your schedule (today’s and this week’s)
observe your daily habits
observe your eating
observe your activities
observe your time
observe your priorities
observe your financial well-being
… just observe for a moment how it all flows together… even if it doesn’t… at least you’re observing so you can make some key decisions.
There are two fundamental principles I want you to consider.
We should strive to put health as our number one priority so it takes care of our ability to prioritize everything else that builds us a life. This is where we’ll accomplish our freedom.
and…
Freedom is earned by a combination of our energy and our choices. If we are to exert our energy, we must make sure we’re doing so for things that give us the best possible return with the least amount of resistance.
Here are 10 simple truths from that post:
Most will wait on taking care of their health until they can afford it. You cannot afford waiting. Prioritize this first and see how quickly your wealth and right opportunities will follow.
Great health sparks the mind, improves the brain and increases your capacity to make more strategic choices that work for you and versus you being a slave to the system.
If you wait on your health, you will spend much of your time on the backend redistributing all of that wealth to heal, leaving no room for living your life.
There is a common denominator in happiness… a universal fuel of joy… is that people want to control their lives. (Angus Campbell)
There’s freedom in owning your choices and feeling confidently connected to them knowing that they are serving you.
You will feel most in control when you do the work, take accountability and manage yourself, which in turn creates a more predictable outcome in your life.
Freedom is not being subject to the emotions or inconsistencies of the outside world, including jobs, people, salaries, titles, status, etc., and are instead managing themselves from the inside…
Freedom, instead, is relying on your own creativity, imagination, ingenuity, innovation and execution.
The real reason most people find happiness is not necessarily all the things you see that come from the external world, but instead is the life that comes from making their own choices freely and benefiting from the work those choices have created.
Control over doing what you want, when you want, with people you want to, is the broadest lifestyle variable that makes people happy. (Angus Campbell)

SIMPLIFY…
One of the greatest forms of freedom comes from knowing what is important to you. It grants you the freedom to ignore everything else. (James Clear)
Translation:
Ruthlessly edit your life. If something is NOT a full yes, it’s a definite no.
Make a list of things that are important to you.
Look at all the areas where you’re compromising this.
Determine why you might be having a problem saying “no” to those things knowing they don’t serve you.
Come to terms with those emotions.
Decide that the things that are a “no” need to now be communicated so you can start solely focusing on everything else.
Pro Tip: If you make a schedule for yourself on a calendar for all the things you need to do for yourself, it becomes easier to tell others “no” because you already have that time blocked out for you and your activities.
MULTIPLY…
Having one’s only goal be living beautifully until 100 years old changes life from a sprint to a marathon, and perfectly reorders how we utilize our physical, emotional and financial resources.
Stop playing 3 year goals when you possibly have a 100-year life. Sprints are fine for laying bricks, but the marathon builds the entire estate.
DIVERSIFY…
If the whole is the sum of its parts, then a person must figure out how to weave together all of the fundamental elements of their being in order to create a happy, thriving life that works for them.
Freedom is frontend heavy and pays backend dividends… lots of work to do up front but highly valuable recurring rewards after that.

I really love how you started this weeks letter with simple observations. To take inventory of your life. It’s so insightful to be in such a deep state of observation and to be honest with yourself about what you can do differently, what you can omit all together, what you can delegate & what you’d like more of. Once things are brought into our awareness we get to choose.
Freedom is an inside job. Freedom is an unshakable inner peace not contingent on any outside forces.
“Ruthlessly edit your life.” DAMN. I feel this so deeply. I’m currently editing the shit out of life it’s confronting and it’s the best thing I could possibly do for myself. Being compassionate with myself throughout this process.
I love your pro tip of actually scheduling time for yourself on the calendar like you would any other client. I will write on my calendar “NOTHING” on days where I am committed to going inward, connecting with nature, fueling my spirit however feels good.

This is so profound. I literally see myself weaving a web of my work and bringing every single piece of me into it. It’s remarkable what happens when you surrender to this process.

Thank you for the guide on how to take a moment to observe ourselves. It’s simple yet incredibly powerful to be able to connect these dots the way you’ve suggested.
As for your diversify segment, it made me think of a pie all sliced up. Taking the time to get clear on what those slices are will definitely help us create the life we want to be living. I'm thinking this will be a great journaling excercise!
Looks like it comes down to clarity, choices, and follow through and, most importantly, prioritizing our health overall.
