We used to call it the “John Wayne” style of leadership—first out of the foxhole and charging across the battlefield.

No matter how brave you are, no matter how noble and right and good your cause is, your chances of success increase exponentially if you can get other people to join you in your actions.

Share your vision for success— “Wouldn’t it be great if…?” Ask for their help. Show them you’ve thought this thing through and have a logical plan in mind. Ask for their input on ways to improve the idea even more. Get their buy-in. Build their motivation.
