Make money doing the work you believe in

I ABSOLUTELY agree that something is lost in the mainstreaming of an idea. I call this the Kurt Cobain problem. It is a perennial flaw of the human condition. But I sincerely believe that the artist must come to peace with this. Cobain was wrong to kill himself, not because he was wrong about the trajectory of his career but because he lacked the faith in the future and his role in history. You have believe that your ideas/art are stronger than history’s natural tendency to corrupt them.

Otherwise why are we even doing this? I might as well take a shotgun to my career (digitally).
