Two concepts that should, philosophically, inform our understanding of writing, our purpose for both learning to do it well and teaching the craft to students, and fundamentally guide our approach to engaging with AI.

As G. Orwell noted, “If people cannot write well, they cannot think well, and if they cannot think well, others will do their thinking for them.”
