Views on Coimbatore Lok Sabha

The core vote base of the BJP in this constituency seems to be between 31-33% as seen from 2014 and 2019 data. However, even in a tri-polar contest, it needs a minimum of 40% vote share to win. While AMMK polled nearly 38,000 votes here in 2019, the MNM polled 1.45 lakh votes and a large portion of this may migrate to the DMK. 5 of the 6 assembly segments in this LS constituency are held by the AIADMK and they have nominated an energetic fresh candidate who may give a tough fight. The DMK has taken back this seat from its communist allies after a long time to try and retain its sway here. It has nominated an ex-AIADMK mayor of Coimbatore as its candidate.
