At first I was searching for some more good “God’s going to get them” passages, but felt led to refocus our (my) thoughts:

Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice! Let your gentle spirit be known to all men. The Lord is near. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.

I think God is letting “us” experience the fruits of evil peoples’ deeds.

We have to be the faithful remnant and make our neighborhoods, cities, counties, states and country better places. Jeremiah says what I feel when I see the deeds done in darkness coming to light. I’m looking and working toward part two (v18-22)

Jeremiah 30: 12-15, 18-22

For thus says the Lord:/ Incurable is your wound,/ grievous your bruise;/ There is none to plead your cause,/ no remedy for your running sore,/ no healing for you./ All your lovers have forgotten you,/ they do not seek you./ I struck you as an enemy would strike,/ punished you cruelly;/ Why cry out over your wound?/ your pain is without relief./ Because of your great guilt,/ your numerous sins,/ I have done this to you.

[BUT]

Thus says the Lord: / See! I will restore the tents of Jacob,/ his dwellings I will pity;/ City shall be rebuilt upon hill,/ and palace restored as it was./ From them will resound songs of praise,/ the laughter of happy men./ I will make them not few, but many;/ they will not be tiny, for I will glorify them./ His sons shall be as of old,/ his assembly before me shall stand firm;/ I will punish all his oppressors./ His leader shall be one of his own,/ and his rulers shall come from his kin./ When I summon him, he shall approach me;/ how else should one take the deadly risk/ of approaching me? says the Lord./ You shall be my people,/ and I will be your God.

We are in Idaho right now at our part time home. Wildfires are the bane of the West. I asked hubs...hurricanes or wildfires? He said hurricanes are better. Predictable. We had a wildfire 2 miles from our home last week. So nerve wracking. We hightail it to Florida every winter and love our life there. But it is just the opposite from Idaho. Here, we are self sufficient. No water? Check the well and pump. Need food? Head to the basement. Power off for a day? Start the generator. Trash stinky? Go to the dump! Florida living is dependent upon water systems and peace of mind is dependent upon well behaved neighborhoods and communities around you. But, there is a grocery store we can walk to in 5 minutes. In Idaho we have to drive 30 miles to a grocery store. It is hard to be dependent upon others when we have been self sustaining for so long. Bah!!

I’m not worried about moneypox. However, we need to pay attention to this rush to give immunocompromised folks (injected, and/or HIV positive, and/or generally the homosexual lifestyle) a live virus vaccine.

It historically is not a practice that has been done.

How do we know that these folks’ immune systems are not going to allow these live viruses (smallpox, by the way) in the latest jabs to begin propagating, with possible resultant community spread? Answer: we don’t.

Bill G has been forecasting a small pox pandemic for awhile now, as the next Big One. He has an uncanny history of somehow knowing about these things.

Giving a live virus vaccine to an immunocompromised population for an illness that is exceedingly uncommonly actually harmful… well, it seems a bit suspicious at best.

Stock up now on your North American pitcher plant, which native Americans apparently used to treat small pox.

There is a larger supply of ACAM2000, but this vaccine should not be used in people who have certain health conditions, such as a weakened immune system, skin conditions like eczema or other exfoliative skin conditions, or pregnancy.

To put it bluntly and horribly: they are recommending euthanasia.

Expand full comment

What I read is when one is immunocompromised and is given the live virus vaccine they may actually shed the virus or get the disease against which they are vaccinated since they can't mount a robust immune response. The live attenuated virus can revert to the pathogenic form, for example, the oral polio vaccine. Not sure about moneypox. " There is little evidence that viral or bacterial vaccines can lead to the level of shedding that would cause a vaccinated person to transmit the infection to others." As we've learned "little evidence" usually means evidence that you are not looking for so I guess we will soon find out. I think it's possible this weakened form could be then spreading asymptomatically in some at-risk communities and if they employ widespread testing, viola! It's all about what you are looking for or not looking for. If you want to find it you will find it, if you don't you won't. I hope I'm wrong but I see how some states are jumping on this bandwagon creating momentum.

Expand full comment
Aug 3, 2022·edited Aug 3, 2022

Yeah, “little evidence.”

Seems to mean “we haven’t looked,” or “there haven’t been enough cases to determine.”

And, we haven’t given a live viral vax broadly to a known entire population of immunocompromised folks who are living in a community of also somehow potentially immunocompromised (injected w C v🪓) people.

Sooo, we really do not know what we are doing.

Your mention of the oral polio v🪓 is a perfect demonstration of the risks. And that was used in a generally immune competent population.

Again with Gibbs, it's like a broken record with the media. Every time a MAGA candidate wins a primary, the media pundits say the same thing, "it was destined to be a GOP tidal wave in November, but that will likely be tempered by poor candidates" or some such nonsense.

I have not seen any hard data that backs this up, it's wish-casting on the media's part. They like the old school loveable loser and/or corrupt Republican that cave when the chips are down. Now that conservatives are finally nominating people with backbone (Gibbs, JD Vance, Blake Masters, etc.) supposedly the GOP is blowing it.

These people are so predictable. Why do we listen to a word they say?

Hey Jeff,

Thanks for your always excellent reporting. I'm an RN, not sure if others commented about this yet.

Loose cough is definitely used, commonly where I work in Ohio at least. Basically just means that the sputum/mucus is loose and not thick, or scant/dry.

So to me this reads as he has a "wet" or "loose" cough meaning mucus production.

Have treated COVID since day one. I'd tell you that likely means he has or is developing bacterial pneumonia secondary to primary viral infection. This is when we see issues. Not from COVID, but from secondary pneumonia the severe respiratory issues begin. Haven't seen a single severe case for 6-8 months on my unit (mind you we were the designated "covid unit.")

The last 3 weeks I have definitely seen a resurgence of mild to moderate cases needing hospitalization, nearly every single one of them vaccinated, nearly everyone recently boosted.

Just using a little clinical intuition here, but the way I read it is that the immune system is not mounting a proper neutralizing response because the current circulating variant is just so vastly different than what we are inoculating for. Couple that with a medication like paxilvid that seems to mostly suppress viral replication rather than actually neutralize it, you have a recipe for disaster. Seeing a lot of cases of people who are vaccinated having had covid now for the third or fourth time, and this time around it's just not going away. 15, 20, 30 day infections, this is very abnormal. Their immune systems are just not clearing it.

Yes, this is anecdotal. But as I've been telling people for 2 years, is in all evidence anecdotal until we quantify it?

Expand full comment

Nurse, this all makes sense. Also elderly people do tend to have weaker immune systems regardless - they can have trouble clearing viral/bacterial infections. Not that the shots are great but this could just be due to advanced age? or the Paxlovid, God only knows what that stuff is doing.

Expand full comment

Sure, normal aging does weaken immune response. The trouble is, this is not only observed in the elderly. I currently have 3 coworkers out, 24, 29, 33. The 29 year old has now had it twice in last 120 days. Has been sick for about 15 days and counting. No underlying health conditions in any of them.

I elected to not be vaccinated. Had avoided COVID for 2 years until about two months ago. Little sniffle and congestion, better in 48 hours.

I am of the opinion that a Trump endorsement can be an albatross around your neck. People care about what you say you're going to do and what plan you outline. The country was better with him, for sure. And he has really brought the sewer to light. But, he's not, as Kim says, God. Gotta do your research.

Expand full comment

But people don’t do research and it is often hard to find good research in this day of google. Trump still has an enormous following though the media will never say this.

Expand full comment

He does have an enormous following. For good reason. And I’m a Trump supporter even though I may not sound like it at times. What I’m not afraid to do is call him out where he makes mistakes. Some of his picks to endorse have been horrid. Obviously his vax push has been even more horrid. What I won’t do is sit by and pretend like it’s impossible for him to be wrong. He’s not God. He’s human and makes mistakes even though he’ll never admit that. If he endorses someone…that’s the perfect time to start researching them and then make up your own mind. What I also won’t do is blindly accept someone or something just because he says so. What he did was wake us up. Now we are responsible for what we do with that. He is not exempt from being called out. None of them are.

I agree. I don’t think he should ever endorse candidates in a primary. He likely knows nothing about Tudor Dixon. It’s what those strategists around him are telling him. This is a world stakes chess game and we are being checkmated right and left.

Absolutely! Agree with you 100%.

I agree it's tough. We found a conservative group and we volunteer with them. They help us research and better understand who's who in the zoo and what initiatives are coming up that are possible free enterprise killers. Through a pretty targeted effort, we've helped to oust Rusty Bowers in AZ due to his voting record. For incumbents, that's an easy one to research. For newbies...it's a crapshoot. And of course, it's all about the show. At the end of the day, we educate as many friends and family as we can and we have to be satisfied with that.

Right! People don't know how to think for themselves. Others have said Democrats were instructed to vote for Dixon in the primary because they know she will lose to Whitmer. We know Democrats love to cheat.

Absolutely! I saw this yesterday in MO. With an open primary, democrats voted on the republican ticket to get RINOs in and unfortunately, succeeded. Sad day for MO and our nation.

Those types of changes in how primary elections are conducted are critically important to election integrity, but as usual those who don't follow politics (very dangerous in a republic) are fooled by Democrats who cry 'fairness!' which always means 'fraud.'

Tudor Dixon was the weak link in the chain of Republican candidates, well known by most who watched the debates, except few people watch the debates. Only one news network, (ABC), televised one, the 4th one. When Right to Life endorsed her in July her stock rose. Make no mistake, the RNC, at the top has a machine also. They can say she had the most electability because she is a woman, has tv camera polish, and appears to be the apple pie, Mom and family. We know she was not even being considered until the last month, but that was the plan. People don’t remember things. Primaries are low activity, so you wait until the end, buy big endorsements, send out mailers, do tv ads. Not sure why Trump endorsed her other than she was going to be the big buck GOP’s candidate, and he wanted a clear winner in this state. Michigan is straight ticket primary voting. We were redistricted this year by a wacky bi partisan committee that everyone said didn’t know what they were doing but they did and it was to bolster Liberals by splitting up large red districts and adding blue cities into them. I went into my rural voting booth and found that I was in a completely different state senate district that had two Republicans running for office I had not seen one thing for. Because we are term limited in this state there were many open state Senate and House races, but while there were always more than one Republican vying for that spot, invariably, only one Democrat would be running. Planned. Then Democrats could go in and vote Republican and pick the weakest links to go against their one Democrat candidate. It’s an old trick and we knew it was coming. Add to that the Left fostered animosity among the candidate supporters of different people. Many people just feel that they were cheated on their vote and won’t vote again. And that is what they want. My only thought to Trump endorsing Dixon was he knew which way the wind was blowing and wanted it to look like his endorsement meant something. It’s hard to keep reawakening to the nightmare that has been put in place by the evil across this country, and realizing it’s been planned for years.

Yes, GOP wanted RINO Craig but he didn't make it to the ballot. Soldano had my vote. I am surprised at Dixon's margin of victory. Kari Lake in AZ won by a slim margin also with Trump backing but she was popular too. Dixon was not. The Dems will chew up Dixon but maybe with the help of Devos $$$ Dixon will give her a fight. I'm not sure our votes matter any more.

The Trump endorsement is inexplicable but I'll admit that I am not a fan of DJT despite voting for him. How does a total unknown like Dixon with no political experience and very little ties to Michigan wind-up with the nomination?

As you said, there were much better candidates with an established track record for fighting for the rights of Michigan citizens. If the Michigan GOP excels at anything it's their ability to self-sabotage.

Despite the disaster that is Gretchen Whitmer she is assured of re-election. It's almost as if Michigan republicans want to lose.

Before Michigan went to straight party voting, you could jump back and forth, so Dems would vote for a weak Republican candidate going against an incumbent Dem, and turn around and vote for Dems in lesser elections where the race would be tight. The straight ticket voting was supposed to eliminate that, but Dems just wised up and made sure only one Dem would run in lesser state elections, so the Dem voters could easily vote GOP, this one time.

Michigan is no different than the DC swamp. Republicans are just as bad as the Dems in this state. I watched then Senate majority leader, Mike Shirkey rail against Whitmer, come to Stand Up Michigan events, pray with us, urge us to sign petitions and he turned on every one of us. He and Whitmer were two sides of the same coin. We have no idea the amounts of under the table monies going to influence all of this. Shirkey knew if he went along Michigan would receive big covid monies when Brandon was installed. I would wager Florida, Missouri, Arizona and many more have the same problems. It’s where we are.

Just curious. What has Tudor Dixon said/done that marks her as a RINO?

Expand full comment

She is not necessarily a RINO, but she is a packaged candidate put in place by the GOP establishment in this state. She is a mom to four kids, her husband is never mentioned or seen, was a tv newscaster during covid, came to Michigan several years ago to help operate her dad’s steel plant by Muskegon. She left, unexplained about 3 years ago. A year later the steel plant declared bankruptcy. Whitmer, I am afraid will make this a one referendum campaign and that will be abortion. The news media here is in her pocket, and debates will be televised. IMO, Tudor doesn’t stand a chance.

"Whitmer, I am afraid will make this a one referendum campaign and that will be abortion. "

Which demonstrates how truly stupid most people are. Whitmer spent two years destroying small businesses, people's lives, and engaging in irrational Covid policies that she herself flaunted on numerous documented occasions. Yet, the galvanizing issue for many Michigan voters will be protecting Michigan's abortion industry.

There are two amendment initiatives that through magic will be on the November ballot. One is a new abortion amendment which would allow abortions up to the time of birth. A “health care individual” can recommend an abortion for your 12 year old daughter without parental consent or knowledge, and medical records would be sealed. The language is intentionally vague and open to evil interpretation. It would be an abomination if passed. The other is a”fair” voting rights act. Does away with voter ID, allows for mail in voting all the time, and no signature verification and so on. We would truly be a banana republic with this law passed. Both initiatives if passed would become amendment law and could not be overturned. This is why abortion will become important. I feel that RoevWade was overturned just for this very reason. So that anti abortion laws in many states would be challenged and liberal laws would be enacted. Evil.

The voter initiative method of amending a state constitution has been used for such awful purposes, including in Florida. It's a method that needs reining in. The constitutions should only address the structure and function of government. Sadly, that might include the voting part, which only points out the use of 'fairness' claims by Democrats as cover for fraud.\

If that's all true (and I don't doubt you) then who could have won? Dixon is the nominee now so it's between her and Whitmer. Not a hard choice IMO, what's the point of trashing her now?

Several conservatives whose opinion I trust (Ned Ryun, John Cardillo, Harmeet Dillon as examples) all strongly backed Dixon. These people aren't fools and I doubt they'd support a Mitt Romney-type squish. Plus Dixon went from being virtually unknown to convincingly winning a competitive primary. Clearly she has some talent.

William F. Buckley used to say that we should support the most conservative candidate *that can win*. He understood that the GOP shouldn't necessarily have the same cookie-cutter candidate in Oklahoma as compared to Massachusetts. Those were some wise words.

I really don't get the after-the-fact Dixon bashing. If there was a strong, well-known, proven conservative candidate, that could win statewide, then I get it. But there wasn't so absent that, what is the point?

I doubt any of those conservatives know anything about Dixon but her polished ads. The bio’s that are fed to them. What the RNC wants them to know. Somehow, Mitt Romney got elected in Utah when many suspected he might start trashing Trump again.

I never said Dixon was a RINO, right now she is saying all the right things. I watched 5 debates among the candidates only one televised state wide. The candidates were all asked the same things, pretty much social issues, and all of them answered the same down the line. However when it comes to how we deal with loss of corporations and manufacturing, loss of citizens leaving this state, right and left, and a budget that keeps ballooning out of control because we have covid money, she seemed loss. Her line was always, “I ran a steel plant, and I’ve talked to business people all over the state and got their input. No hard answers. She was born in PA. Her parents divorced and 7 years ago she moved to Michigan to help run her dad’s steel plant near Muskegon. She left after 3 years, no real explanation as to why. But a year later, the dad declared bankruptcy and the plant closed. She had a morning show on Real Voice America and did some teaching. She is married with 4 daughters. Her husband is never mentioned and never seen. There are rumors they are going through a divorce but I don’t know the truth of that. Much of her background has never been mentioned and since the media pretty much ignored the candidates until now, we really know little. But every skeleton will be exposed now. She was the weakest of the five candidates and while I will support her as we need Whitmer gone, I fear the Democratic machine will make mincemeat of her.

I was not aware of Harmeet Dhillon supporting Dixon. I have tremendous respect for her so I would be interested in understanding the motivation. As for the Michigan GOP, that's the essence of the problem. They did not offer up the "most conservative candidate "that can win*".

The best way I can describe a “loose cough” is that the person is coughing up mucus or phlegm or blood compared to a “dry cough” where the cough doesn’t. The proper terminology would probably be a productive cough vs a non productive cough. Productive coughs develops from a cold, sinus or respiratory infection or flu. Probably more info than you asked for!

Just FYI, all my life I've heard of a "loose" cough, from when I was a kid (I'm 61 now). "Loose" and "productive", those are the terms I grew up with to describe the disgusting kind of cough.

I literally never heard of a "wet" cough until about three minutes ago.

Grew up in upstate New York to parents born and raised in the Bronx, if those demographics mean anything in this loogie-hocking discussion.
